The constitution day of Norway is celebrated on the 17th of May each year. Traditional parades are organized all over Norway, as well as in Norwegian Embassies all over the world. Delhi is no exception.
A Norway styled elephant and a local marching band playing the national anthem creates all the ambience needed for the diplomats and Norwegian residents in Delhi. 17th May is the warmest time of the year in Delhi. Marching in 40 degrees Celsius with a suit and tie, isn’t ideal – so the parade makes a sudden turn – returning to the comfort of the Embassy for traditional Norwegian food and games.
